The Lieutenant C. Villafuerte Sr. Elementary School started its existence in the school year 1976-1977. The school was created as daughter school of Calinan Central Elem. School and located at Datu Abeng Street in front of the Sacred Heart Parish Church with an area of 26,657 square meters. The school is named in honor of a very prominent person in Davao City paarticularly in Calinan , a soldier and a farmer, Lieutenant Cipriano Villafuerte Sr..
The school started with four section in each grade level from Grade I to Grade VI with thirty teachers and one principal. The late Mrs. Josefina P. Camitan was the first principal of the school and manned it from 1976 to 1989 upon her retirement.There was a shortage of classrooms for twenty four sections so shifting of classes were organized from grade I to IV. Two sections were assigned in one classroom , one class held classes inside the classroom in the morning while the other class held it outside under the caimito tree using empty sacks of rice to sit on.
Lt. C Villafuerte Sr. Elem. School is thirty five years old this school year 2011-2012. Every 26th of September , the school celebrates its founding anniversary in commemoration of the birth date of Lieutenant C. Villlafuerte Sr.. The school continue to grow in enrollment , school buildings and other facilities under the managing principal Mrs. Melchora Reston, Mr. Oligario S. Cunanan, Mr. Wilfredo M. Terante, Mr. Felipe M. Manon-og, Mrs. Nelly C. Hubahib, Mr. Deony Ferolino and the present principal Leonardo T. Mateo.
At present the LCVSES continues to grow with joint forces of the competent teaching staff and the cooperative parents set its mission, vision and goals for a quality education as mandated by DepED. T he school continue to promote quality education it is also proven that it continues producing successful professional students.

Calinan District Got It's Name
The name Calinan was coined from the Bagobo word "Colina" which means water that changes direction. Calinan have rich and fertile soil that attracted investors to put up business on its unique and interesting places. To mention few were DAVCO, DOLE, and DFC. The fast growing population of the place encouraged the pioneered teacher Paulina Naval to educate the children of Calinan.
Calinan was once part of the Guianga District during World War II liberation. It was the time when Davao City composes only of two District; Guianga and Davao Central District. Guianga District was under the supervision ship of Mrs. Victoria Montgomery. She manned Matina, Talomo, Toril, Dacudao and Calinan.Early 1950's, Calinan was created into a separate District and part of it were Roxas, Marilog, and Baguio.
Julie G. Yarso was the tenth (10th) Public School District Supervisor. since of its existence. The previous supervisors were Francisco Cutsaro, Felomina Villanueva, Victorio Camitan, Autemo Alconcel, Alma Castillo, Justina Batacan, Lydia Villacorta, Marietta Matsuo, and Salvacion Gaetos.Each of them made their own history to improve Calinan District.
The first District office was the present Barangay Hall of Calinan. This was occupied by Francisco Cutsaro who later vacated and transferred to the old Calinan Central edifice, which is now the two- story Lopez type building. Mrs. Felomina Villanueva the second District Supervisor occupied the same building. It was part of Victorio Camitan tenure when the said building was destroyed by the fire. Thats why the present District office was constructed. This was built at Calinan Central school site facing Lt. C. Villafuerte Sr. Elementary School. . Since part of Victorio Camitan tenure, the past supervisors used the same building until now. The second floor was made of concrete wood and its ground floor was of cement decorated with tiles.
Calinan District belongs to the third congressional District of Davao City. It has seventeen Schools which caters more than ten thousand school children. The District of Calinan produces successful professionals occupying high position here and abroad. A District who continuously manufacturing the best product in town in terms of academic, sports, arts and value aspects. Calinan aims to soar high to put the District in a pedestal. This is in preparation for the school children to be able to compete in the global arena of life.
